On 10 September, 12 teams from local businesses gathered on Brampton Park course to enjoy a beautiful day out and to raise funds for the Papworth Trust.
After refreshments on arrival and the opportunity to warm up on the driving range, all teams teed off at 12 noon with a shot gun start. Participants then enjoyed a sunny afternoon's 18 holes on the superb Brampton Park course.
On returning to the club house, the teams were entertained with a buffet dinner, prize giving, charity auction and by guest speaker Ian Pattinson. Ian has officiated as a referee at over 9 Open Championships, 8 Master Tournaments, the US Open and the Walker Cup. He is also the rules of golf advisor to the BBC Commentary team for the Open Championships.
The auction lots included many attractive prizes including a signed golf cap signed by Peter Allis, Ken Brown, Sam Torrence, Nick Faldo, Mark James and Gary Linneker.
The day was a tremendous success and raised nearly £5,000 to help Papworth Trust continue its work to give disabled people equality, choice and independence in their lives.
Many thanks to all our sponsors and participants, and to Jamy Ltd of Godmanchester for the winning trophies.
