Our future with you

You will be at the centre of what we do and how we do it.

For example, if we are working with you by finding you a place to live, you might also need some support with your care, or want to find a job. We can help you with all of this and many other things.

We campaign with disabled people to change Government policy and challenge what people think about disability. The more people who get involved, the greater effect we can have. We can support you to campaign if you want to.

About Papworth Trust

Papworth Trust's strength will continue to be that we work with people of all ages and all disabilities.

We also work with disadvantaged people who are disabled so that we can support as many disabled people as possible.

In the future we want to provide services for disabled people where other organisations do not provide them.

Our Mission is for disabled people to have equality, choice and independence in their lives.

My Services

We will:

  • make it easy for all of our customers to contact Papworth Trust
  • be a great place to get information and advice
  • have services which enable disabled people to support themselves better
  • provide supporting activities so disabled people can achieve their aims
  • explore setting up a virtual college online
  • deliver a Disability Awareness Training service.

And in all Papworth Trust services we will give disabled people a bigger voice in society.

My Home

We will:

  • provide more homes, many of which will be fully accessible
  • create a fully accessible bungalow that costs less to build than the homes that are built now
  • show other builders how to build homes that work better for disabled people
  • help older people to stay in their own homes as they become disabled through our Home Improvement Agency services.

My Care

We will:

  • provide more services for people with their own Personal Budgets
  • work with more people with mental ill health
  • explore the development of our own Personal Assistant agency
  • use more technology to provide personal care
  • create training to support carers and families
  • develop respite support for families and carers
  • explore a volunteer led monitoring service for vulnerable people.

My Leisure

We will:

  • have more services for younger disabled people
  • create even more leisure and learning activities
  • explore how we can support disabled people and their families to have better access to holidays and short breaks
  • provide more things to do in the evenings and at weekends
  • work with mainstream leisure providers (for example cinemas and bowling alleys) so they better support disabled people
  • explore running a Support Planning service to help you decide what you would like to do with your life, and to give you the support you need to make this happen
  • explore the development of a friendship or dating agency for disabled people
  • create family forums to give a bigger voice to parents and carers.

My Work

We will:

  • deliver state funded employment services (like the Work Programme) to a high standard
  • create employment services where the Government won't
  • continue to expand our Vocational and Medical Rehabilitation service
  • create work experience and placement schemes
  • look for apprenticeships for disabled people
  • set up a career guidance service
  • look at running a recruitment agency
  • explore training linked to areas that disabled people would like to work in, for example catering or gardening
  • create a network of volunteer mentors, coaches and supporters to help people into work.
